Excited to be part of CAIRDRE VISUAL 26! Many thanks to the jury for selecting my piece “Undertow”. The exhibition will open on July 4th and run until the 17th of July.

Selected artworks will be exhibited across both the Hamilton gallery @hamilton.gallery and The Hyde Bridge Gallery @thehydebridgegallery , official opening at 3pm in Sligo City Hall.

The Waiting Room is part of an ongoing body of work exploring women’s health, particularly endometriosis and adenomyosis.

“of flesh & stone” is a photographic exploration of women’s lived experiences with endometriosis. Through intimate, elemental portraits, artist Lauren Hamilton reveals the tension between the physical and emotional worlds they inhabit: a space where pain and resilience are interwoven. Each piece stands as a testament to the unyielding spirit of women living with endometriosis, offering glimpses into the profound realities of the condition.

This new body of work emerged from Hamilton’s research project that was supported by the Arts, Health and Wellbeing Award (2024) through the Kildare County Council. “of flesh & stone” continues her ongoing exploration into women’s health, specifically endometriosis, following her graduate work HYSTERA (2023) and solo exhibition Maybe I’m Being Dramatic (2024) in GalleryX.

A little late to this one… but for good reason!

2024 was a year I never saw coming, but I’m so grateful for every moment. I turned dreams into reality, met incredible people, and embraced new opportunities.

To start off the year, I was honoured to join the incredible panel ( @lucinarussell @arosieviewportraits @afif.elkhuffash @notebooks_other ) on art & women’s mental health for @arosieviewportraits exhibition Whispers of Resilience, supported by @firstfortnight @arts_in_co_kildare.

Following months of preparation, Maybe I’m Being Dramatic came to life (@galleryxdublin)—a deeply personal exhibition on endometriosis (and adenomyosis). I’m incredibly grateful to curator Chloe Maguire @chloemelinda (Mothering Spaces @motheringspaces) for believing in HYSTERA and selecting it for her debut curatorial exhibition, supported by the Arts Council of Ireland @artscouncilireland.
Sharing my story was both terrifying and deeply rewarding, especially as I underwent my first surgery after the show, marking a significant creative and personal milestone.

Next I took on my first curatorial role at No.8 Gallery @no.8gallery for the Kildare Derby Festival @kildaretownderby, where I had the privilege of meeting and involving Johnny Murtagh and Peter Curling. I stayed on in No.8, to curate two more exhibitions and I’m so thankful to Brendan & Frank for all of their support. (@no.8framing @mcmahon_accountants_advisers)

I was thrilled to receive the Executive Coaching for Creative Professionals Bursary @intheroundcoaching to grow and develop as an artist, as well as the Arts, Health & Wellbeing Award (Kildare Arts Service @arts_in_co_kildare ) to further develop HYSTERA.

Throughout this time, I participated in several group exhibitions including Segotia’s opening exhibition in November. In addition to my creative work, I stayed busy with photography, from headshots to weddings.

To end the year I received the exciting news that I would start off 2025 as a creative resident at Segotia (@segotia_dublin) where I’ve spent the past two months settling in—so if you need me, you know where to find me!

Here’s to 2025!
